Moston has worked for energy regulators for most of his career and is well respected amongst his colleagues and by regulated energy businesses. At the Queensland Competition Authority Moston was a Team Leader responsible for review of gas access arrangement proposals and for retail electricity price determinations, amongst many other things. At the Australian Energy Regulator, Moston was a Director responsible for reviewing regulatory proposals submitted by energy network businesses. In more recent times, Moston has used his expertise to develop regulatory approaches that are a better fit given technology driven change affecting energy businesses and the markets in which they operate. In particular, Moston has a deep understanding linkages between electricity ring-fencing, cost allocation, service classification and shared assets. Moston takes a practical approach to regulation and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others.
