Jeff Lassen

Jeff is an experienced consultant who specialises in microeconomics and public sector economics. He has extensive experience in economic policy development, public finance, regulation design and review,  the evaluation and development of business cases and project evaluation.

Jeff has experience in the areas of regional economic development, infrastructure policy, revenue design and analysis, industry policy, transport, employment and emerging markets.

Jeff also has extensive experience in leading, managing and delivering and reviewing major projects to successful conclusions. Jeff is also the firm’s practice manager.

Before joining Synergies Jeff held several senior executive positions at Queensland Treasury where he worked on a wide range of State and national economic issues including competition policy reforms and national tax reforms.

  • Analysis of road pricing approaches and advised on institutional and regulatory reform to existing heavy vehicle road pricing;
  • Economic demand and workload models for a social portfolio agency;
  • Review of the competition impacts of planning legislation at container ports;
  • Assessed the costs of rail safety regulations;
  • Prepared an audit of infrastructure gaps in a regional economy; and
  • Prepared expert reports on taxation and telecommunication matters.
